From Our Community

Something I love about AAHS is the resources provided to students to help them develop their plan for their future. I love all of the different class options and the real life settings that AAHS is able to replicate in order to really help you find the pathway that best fits you and also prepares you for the next steps in your career/college plan! What I love about Alexandria Public Schools is the incredible scope of options for students. Starting with core classes. There is not just one answer for every student. There are different levels of rigor in various classes, and there are options to earn college credit (PSEO, AP, and other options). Additionally, there are an incredible amount of options for electives. APS student have the opportunity to expose themselves to such a wide range of subjects and learning experiences. When students graduate from AAHS, they have had so many opportunities that many people don't have until college or elsewhere as adults. Finally, there is a wide range of options for activities. It is hard to imagine a student having an interest that could not be nurtured by a club, organization, sport, etc. at AAHS.

I have 2 children that have graduated from Alexandria Area High School and 1 currently attending. Our children have had an excellent educational experience from elementary school to high school. The depth of courses offered is exceptional and assisted my kids in figuring out what fields they have an interest in. There are many college levels courses offered which transferred into their college curriculum which felt like a little head start when beginning college. The educational and extracurricular experiences at APS has prepared them for the next step in life which we are very thankful for.Sharlo meyer, aahs parent

We had our daughter at one of the private schools for her middle school years and this year transferred her to AAHS. She LOVES it and is doing very well. A huge relief!parent survey response - spring 2024
